Flexible IO access with W&T’s new web IOs
Flexible IO access with W&T's new web IOs
Wiesemann and Theis GmbH from Wuppertal are expanding its Web-IO range with two new devices for automation and IoT applications.
USB Redirection for Linux
Connecting USB devices over the network
With the new USB redirection for Linux, you can connect USB devices to your workstation or server system over the network.
Web-IO – System Integration Automation with Standard Protocols
Integrate IO signals with Modbus-TCP, OPC UA/DA, Rest or MQTT
Web-IO
Detect, monitor and control in the network

|
Web-IOs are components for implementing small and medium-size remote IO and monitoring applications over TCP/IP Ethernet. |
For larger installations with multiple Web-IOs the Motherbox can be used as a practical "control center". A multitude of M2M protocols on the application, network and fieldbus levels also supports integration into existing MES, Scada or monitoring systems. |
Sensors, digital and analog I/O |

|
detect sensor values such as temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure or CO2 concentration. |
detect and set 0-10V and 0/4-20mA signals. External sensors for variables such as flow, level or weight are read and actuators such as motors, valves etc. controlled. |
detect and switch digital signals on the 12-30V level (control signals, fault reporting contacts, relays) and 230V level (mains voltage). |
Edge Computing
|
The Motherbox is the switching and control center for the Web-IOs. A graphical interface represents the input and measurement values of the connected devices and lets you switch and set values on the outputs. The integrated database records measurement values and states. These data can be exported for logs and reports. Goto application Motherbox |
The rule.box is an individual programmable application server that makes it possible to use Node-RED for developing individual automation solutions. For data communication models with serial interface, network terminal, switchable in- and outputs and USB are available. Goto applications Rule.box |
Cloud and mobile access with Web-IO2Go
| The W&T Cloud is a free service of Wiesemann & Theis that allows you to access your measurement values from anywhere in the world. | WebIO2Go is an app for Android and iOS that lets you access the Web-IOs in your network through your mobile phone. |
Web IOs now with OPC UA1
The Web-IO series from Wiesemann & Theis GmbH now supports one of the most important common communication standards - the OPC UA industrial protocol. In this way, Web IOs also make older machines, controls and measuring instruments ready for the future.
Segmentation: Router vs. Bridge Mode
Bridge: Microwall Bridge
The Microwall Bridge works transparently from the point of view of the IP ranges, i.e. the IP ranges (net IDs) of the surrounding network and the island side are identical. Nevertheless, cross-network connections are only possible after setting up explicit sharing rules based on the IP addresses and TCP/UDP port numbers involved.
transfer.box LAN-USB can both store data and send it from USB devices over the Internet
USB memory with network connection
Wiesemann & Theis GmbH, Wuppertal has developed another product to help USB devices. It is called transfer.box LAN-USB box and has item number # 53763 - recommended price excl. VAT is 3135 DKK.
Network integration of a thermal imager
Definition of tasks
A stationary thermal imager is needed for thermal inspection of parts in a series production system. The camera model used here uses a USB port as the communications interface, so that a solution for the following customer requirements had to be found:
Data filling station for BOS digital wireless devices
Network connection of programming stations for the Wuppertal fire department
Definition of tasks
The BOS hand-portable radios from Sepura used by the Wuppertal fire department are fitted once or twice a year with new code plugs for the keypad assignments, group associations etc. For this purpose the devices and associated charging/programming stations are equipped with either an RS232 or USB interface depending on the model. Both interfaces require that the programming PC (client) be in the direct vicinity, so that in order to reprogram using standard means there are only three options, all of which have decisive drawbacks:
Use USB devices in the home office
The USB servers integrate USB interfaces into the corporate network. Using a VPN, you can also enable access from remote locations. This makes it possible to work from the home office in many cases that actually require physical presence.
