Applications for USB-Server
USB devices securely in the network
USB server with new security features for office and industry
The USB servers from W&T not only integrate USB devices easily and reliably into your IT or OT network. Now they also have security features that reliably protect data traffic without much effort.
Network integration of a thermal imager
Definition of tasks
A stationary thermal imager is needed for thermal inspection of parts in a series production system. The camera model used here uses a USB port as the communications interface, so that a solution for the following customer requirements had to be found:
Data filling station for BOS digital wireless devices
Network connection of programming stations for the Wuppertal fire department
Definition of tasks
The BOS hand-portable radios from Sepura used by the Wuppertal fire department are fitted once or twice a year with new code plugs for the keypad assignments, group associations etc. For this purpose the devices and associated charging/programming stations are equipped with either an RS232 or USB interface depending on the model. Both interfaces require that the programming PC (client) be in the direct vicinity, so that in order to reprogram using standard means there are only three options, all of which have decisive drawbacks:
USB ISDN fax modems in virtual systems
VMware / Windows Virtual PC / VirtualBox
Definition of tasks
With the increasing use of visualization solutions, completely new problems arise. Do you have a USB ISDN fax modem connected to your old Windows server and need to port this USB device to the visualized server?
USB devices in virtual systems
VMware / Windows Virtual PC / VirtualBox / HyperV
Definition of tasks
With the increasing use of visualization solutions, the need also grows for communication between virtual machines and USB peripherals of all kinds.
USB-Server as global line driver
USB-Server as global line driver
Definition of tasks
To operate USB devices remotely from the host PC, the limits of functionality and USB specifications are reached after just a few meters. In many applications from automation, medical technology or logistics there is often a need to operate the USB device remotely from the linking PC. The required distances are virtually unlimited, ranging from simple room-to-room communication to global connections.
USB dongles in the network
Protected operation of USB dongles in the network
Definition of tasks
Software manufacturers often use hardware dongles as licensing/copy protection, where they are expected for operating the respective program on a local USB port of the PC. License-conformal, alternating operation of the protected programs on multiple workstations requires carrying the dongles back and forth or even sending them between the workstations.
